The Ultimate Northern Tanzania Safari

Arriving at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), You’ll be greeted with a warm smile by your expert Tanzania guide from Usari Safaris & Tours. After a seamless meet and greet, relax in your comfortable private vehicle as you’re transferred to Arusha, the gateway to Tanzania’s Iconic Northern Safari Circuit.
Nicknamed the Elephant Playground, Tarangire National Park is home to immense herds of these giants, alongside buffalo, lions, wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles. Each game drive brings surprises, perhaps a lone lion resting in the shade, a trio of cheetahs basking in the sun, or giraffes delicately feeding on acacia leaves. Keep an eye out for rarities too, like kudu and oryx. Beyond the big game, the smaller creatures captivate as well. Spot a male agama lizard shifting colours with the heat, or the humble hyrax astonishingly a distant relative of the elephant. Birdlife is equally dazzling - lilac breasted rollers, blue eared starlings, ostriches, and the comical secretary bird striding across the grasslands.
After early breakfast, drive to Serengeti National Park. The Serengeti promises an endless array of wildlife encounters over the coming days. Yet, for many first-time visitors, today’s true highlight may simply be the Serengeti itself. The vast plains, stretching endlessly toward the horizon, inspire a profound sense of wonder and awe. This afternoon’s game drive blends the thrill of the unknown with the certainty of awe, every moment brings shifting light, a new cast of animal performers, and fresh surprises around each bend. Capture a few treasured photographs, but don’t forget to pause, breathe deeply, and simply absorb nature’s raw beauty as it plays out in real time
Seronera, is the park’s most popular region, welcoming not only visitors but an abundance of wildlife. Sustained by the year-round flow of the Seronera River, this area is alive with activity: lions gathering in impressive prides, hippos wallowing in pools, and elephants whose numbers have grown steadily in recent years. Multiple game drives here promise fresh discoveries, and depending on the day’s attractions, we may also stop at the Serengeti Visitor Centre. There, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the park’s ecosystem and its conservation history. After lunch, our journey continues south-east towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, we descend to Ngorongoro Crater. On one side lies the Lerai Forest, lush and almost tropical prime elephant territory. Nearby swamplands serve as the so-called elephant graveyard, where aging tuskers come to graze on soft grasses once their teeth fail. The crater teems with life, lions with defined territories, wildebeest, zebra, hyenas, and rare black rhino. Resident herds thrive year-round thanks to abundant water, joined seasonally by migrators. Buffalo, Thomson’s gazelle, eland, and hippos are plentiful, while birdlife dazzles with flamingos on Lake Magadi and colourful highland species around the waters. Unlike anywhere else on Earth, the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater is a sanctuary for an astonishing variety of Tanzania’s wildlife. With a bit of luck, you may even spot the elusive black rhino. After our morning exploration of the incomparable crater and a relaxed lunch, we begin the journey back to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight. The drive takes around five hours, offering time to reflect on the unforgettable experiences of your safari.
