Sustainable Travel Is the Way Forward
We’re delighted that a burgeoning body of research suggests that travelers are evermore interested in slow, sustainable, transformative travel experiences. The Government of Tanzania’s Vision 2025 development plan is proactive in protecting the country’s natural attractions while growing sustainable tourism to contribute to the local economy. With our founders’ extensive experience in the North American travel space, Usari Safaris & Tours is well-poised to support this plan. Our visitors have a direct influence on the quality of our every-day life. And when they go back home, we remain here because we are at home in Africa. Thus, Usari Safaris & Tours has a special commitment to the long-term protection of the health, safety, and the environment in our local communities.
Being local and physically operating in Tanzania gives Usari Safaris & Tours Ltd an opportunity to get directly involved with several environmental and sustainability projects throughout Tanzania. We are committed to preserving local environments, protecting the infinite animal species that call Africa home, and respecting the continent’s cultures. We plan, work on and manage sustainably ideal conditions for a successful and secure future:
- We have set measures for carbon dioxide (CO2) consumption and try to reduce our emission where possible.
- Through our social responsibility program, we proudly partner with local institutions in organized cleaning campaigns to further protect the environments we’re excited to share with our visitors, as well.
- From our office and operations staff to the team on the ground, we believe in paying fair wages. While some companies underpay their staff to offer clients the cheapest prices, you can be assured that no money is coming out of the pockets of our staff to offer discounted rates.
- All of our safaris offer an element of culture to meet the local communities. We make financial and practical contributions to the Maasai villages, Hadzabe bush people and various other groups we visit. In addition to local payments made to the villages, we also contribute school books, pens, pencils and women’s personal items such as tampons and sanitary pads.
- As an International company with Tanzania locality origin and base, our focus is on increasing our business and returning our profits back into the community. By booking with us, you are taking out the “middle man,” which means we can offer very competitive prices on all safaris and treks. Your booking goes to a local company without any additional agency fees or added commissions.
Environmental Protection & Conservation Commitment
At USARI, we believe that when corporate profitability is pursued in a manner that results in overall community prosperity, everybody wins. In fact, a burgeoning body of research suggests that travelers are ever-more interested in sustainable and transformative travel experiences. USARI supports all environmental safeguards and conservation efforts that seek to proactively protect the natural attractions while growing sustainable tourism to contribute to the prosperity of local communities.
Remaining true to this commitment, our business is grounded in four pillars of giving back to our fellow citizens and the planet because we:
- Follow environmentally-conscious best practices to protect nature and biodiversity.
- Contribute to the preservation of the natural and cultural heritages of each destination.
- Support the social and economic well-being of the local communities in which we operate.
- Leverage tourism as an empowering vehicle for cross-cultural understanding and ensuing peace.
